Choutuppal to Sangareddy Road Declared as National Highway

RRR South Stretch to Become a National Highway: Centre Agrees to Telangana’s Request

In a major development for Telangana’s infrastructure, the Regional Ring Road (RRR) South Stretch is set to be declared a National Highway. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has given in-principle approval for the move following a meeting with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in New Delhi.

According to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the proposed 182 km road stretch from Choutuppal to Amangal, Shadnagar to Sangareddy, which forms the southern part of the RRR, will soon receive National Highway status. This designation is expected to significantly boost connectivity, industrial development, and reduce traffic congestion around Hyderabad.

Centre to Bear Utility Relocation Costs
In the meeting, CM Revanth Reddy urged the Union Government to take up responsibility for relocation of utilities such as water pipelines, electric poles, and telecom lines, which usually delay large infrastructure projects. Union Minister Gadkari has agreed to bear these expenses from the Centre’s budget, making it easier for the state to execute the project smoothly.

Expansion of National Highways in Telangana
The Chief Minister also submitted a list of 14 important state roads for upgrading to National Highway status. These roads are strategically significant and their up gradation will improve logistics and public access across Telangana.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Principal Secretary of Roads Department Srinivas Raju, and Telangana Bhavan Resident Commissioner Gaurav Uppal were also present in the meeting with Gadkari.

Significance of the RRR Project
The Regional Ring Road (RRR) is a major infrastructure initiative designed to ease traffic pressure on Hyderabad by creating a massive circular connectivity around the city. The project is split into two parts – North and South. While work on the North segment has already begun with Central assistance, this fresh approval for the South segment will fast-track Telangana’s development goals, particularly in industrial corridors, logistics hubs, and urban expansion.

Summary
  • * RRR South (182 km) from Choutuppal to Sangareddy will become a National Highway.
  • * Centre will bear utility shifting costs to speed up work.
  • * 14 more roads in Telangana proposed to be upgraded to National Highways.
  • * The move will enhance connectivity, employment, and industrial growth.

This approval marks a major win for the Telangana government’s push toward improving road infrastructure and economic development across the state.
