Telangana’s New Industrial Leap
The Telangana government has introduced a forward-looking industrial strategy to
encourage investments, promote small and medium industries, and create more
employment across the state. The new policy includes key initiatives such as plug-andplay industrial zones, Japanese industrial parks, and district-level MSME support.Highlights of the New Industrial Policy
Plug-and-Play Industrial Parks
The government will provide ready-to-use industrial spaces on lease for small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). These will come with basic infrastructure, power, and approvals, allowing entrepreneurs to start operations immediately.
“We want to remove land-related hurdles and offer affordable spaces for industries to begin functioning quickly,” the minister said.
Special Zones for Pharma and Manufacturing
Red zones (restricted areas for heavy industries like pharma) will be clearly marked, and new industrial clusters will be created based on the availability of raw materials in each region.
Decentralized Industrial Growth
To reduce the concentration of industries around Hyderabad, the government is focusing on district-level expansion. As part of this:
- * A Industrial Park is planned near L.B. Nagar in the East Zone of Hyderabad.
- * Around 800 acres near Ramoji Film City are being allocated exclusively for Japanese companies that have shown interest in setting up manufacturing units in Telangana.
A women-led industrial zone is planned at Sultanpur, aimed at encouraging womenowned businesses and providing special infrastructure and support systems.
Dry Ports for Trade
Two major dry ports (inland cargo hubs) are being developed at:
- * Nalgonda
- * Zaheerabad
These will improve logistics and make export-import operations easier for local industries.
The state is actively working with the central government to develop the Hyderabad– Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, which will attract national and global investments and boost connectivity.
Focus on Investment, Jobs, and Innovation
- * Telangana will welcome multinational companies (MNCs) to set up operations and build industrial ecosystems that support local businesses.
- * The state is studying subsidy models from other states and plans to offer attractive incentives that are both competitive and business-friendly
- * The government is using consultants to identify suitable zones and design policies tailored to each region’s strengths.
IT Expansion to Tier-2 and Tier-3 Cities
Alongside industrial zones, the government is also pushing IT expansion beyond Hyderabad is planned at Sultanpur, into smaller towns to ensure inclusive development and digital empowerment across Telangana.
Global Collaboration with WEF
The state is also collaborating with the World Economic Forum (WEF) to set up a regional health tech and life sciences innovation center in Hyderabad. This initiative is expected to bring in global expertise, partnerships, and new technologies.
Conclusion
Telangana’s new industrial policy aims to position the state as a a leader in sustainable, inclusive, and technology-driven industrial growth. With strong infrastructure planning, international collaboration, and a focus on MSMEs and women entrepreneurs, Telangana is gearing up to become a preferred destination for both domestic and global investors.
